Yes — we're licensed in Tennessee

Getting care in Tennessee

Tennessee's behavioral health access varies sharply between its metro areas and its rural counties, many of which are federally designated shortage areas.

We see patients across Tennessee by video — including Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville and Murfreesboro, and every community in between. Because care is delivered remotely, where you live in Tennessee makes no difference to whether you can be seen.

Is online ADHD testing legitimate?

It depends entirely on who is doing it. A questionnaire scored by software is not a diagnosis. A clinical evaluation conducted by a licensed psychiatric provider is — and telehealth does not change that.

ADHD is diagnosed through clinical interview, developmental history, symptom assessment across settings, and ruling out the conditions that mimic it. All of that can be done well over video. What cannot be done well is any of it in five minutes.

What your evaluation actually involves

Your evaluation is conducted by Shumeka Hill, PMHNP-BC — a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

  • A structured clinical interview, typically 60–90 minutes
  • Developmental and school history, because ADHD begins in childhood
  • Validated symptom rating scales
  • Screening for the conditions that look like ADHD — anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disorders and thyroid problems all mimic it
  • A clear diagnostic answer, and an honest one if the answer is no
  • If ADHD is diagnosed, a treatment plan discussed with you rather than handed to you

ADHD Evaluation in Tennessee: common questions

Are you licensed in Tennessee?
Yes. Shumeka Hill, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, CPNP-AC, LCDC II, is licensed in Tennessee and in 22 other states. You need to be physically located in Tennessee at the time of your visit.
Do I need to travel anywhere in Tennessee?
No. All care is delivered by video from wherever you are in Tennessee. There is no office to drive to and no waiting room.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit is 30 minutes: your history, your symptoms, what you have already tried, and what you want from treatment. Where it goes from there depends on you. Someone diagnosed years ago and doing well on medication needs ongoing management, not a new assessment. Someone who has never been formally assessed may need the full diagnostic evaluation. That is decided with you in the appointment rather than assumed before it.
How long does an ADHD evaluation take?
Most evaluations take 60–90 minutes, sometimes across two appointments. Anything substantially shorter than that is not a diagnostic evaluation.
Can ADHD be diagnosed over video?
Yes. ADHD is diagnosed through clinical interview, history and validated rating scales, all of which work well over video. There is no blood test or brain scan that diagnoses ADHD in routine practice.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book your first appointment directly — a 30-minute visit where we go through your history and what you are experiencing. Whether a full diagnostic evaluation follows is decided there, with you.

Medication is prescribed only where clinically appropriate following an evaluation. No prescription is guaranteed. You must be physically located in Tennessee at the time of your visit.
